Laser skin resurfacing is a treatment used to reduce wrinkles, blemishes, and sun damage. It does this by using concentrated pulses of laser light on the outermost layer of skin to remove surface irregularities. The treatment improves the skin’s appearance in three ways
Surface damage caused by sun and aging is reduced. The laser removes epidermal blemishes, age spots, and precancerous lesions.
The upper skin layers are sculpted smooth and deeper wrinkles are reduced or eliminated. Within four or five days of the procedure, upper layers regrow with new skin that has never been exposed to the sun, wind or other sources of damage.
The laser stimulates the growth of healthy new collagen and elastic fibers within the skin. These components maintain the skin’s resilience and elasticity, and are lost as we age. For up to six months after the resurfacing procedure, the wrinkles continue to diminish as the skin improves.
